Make-up Policy
- Keep absenteeism to a minimum. Excessive absences will cause you to fall behind in your work, and it may be difficult for you to recover your losses.
- If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what went on in class and to get class notes, assignments, and other pertinent information from the make-up notebook located on my desk.
- Following an absence, check the handout box for any returned papers or handouts.
- A student will be allowed to make up missed assignments, tests, etc., only in the case of an excused absence.
- Make-up work will be completed during lunch. Prior arrangements must be made with me regarding specific days and times. I have lunch duty on Wednesdays in the hall near my classroom.
- You must see me during lunch immediately upon returning to school to discuss arrangements for making up any missed work.
- The number of days you have to turn in make-up work equals the number of days you were absent. For example, if you miss one day of school, you have one day to turn in any missed work. If you missed two days, you have two days to turn in any missed work.
- Any work not made up in the allowed time frame will receive a zero.
- Due dates announced in advance are not affected by an absence. If you are absent the day before a preciously announced assignment is due and return to school the day that assignment is due, you will be expected to have that assignment ready to turn in. If you are absent on the day an assignment is due, you will be expected to turn that assignment in the day you return to class.
- Field trips are not considered absences. If an assignment is due and you are scheduled to attend a field trip that day, you are expected to turn the assignment in prior to leaving for the field trip.
- I will gladly discuss any make-up work concerns with you after you have checked the make-up notebook. Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.
